How to Get Tourist Visa to Sri Lanka Easily

The easiest way to obtain a tourist visa for Sri Lanka is through the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system.
This online application allows you to apply for authorization to travel to Sri Lanka for up to 30 days.

Here’s how to apply for an ETA:

  1. Visit the ETA website: Go to https://eta.gov.lk/
  2. Fill out the application form: Provide your personal information, passport details, and travel information. 
  3. Pay the fee: The fee for an ETA can be paid online.
  4. Receive your ETA: Once your application is approved, you will receive an email with your ETA.

Important Notes:

  • The ETA is valid for 30 days from the date of arrival in Sri Lanka.
  • You can extend your stay in Sri Lanka for up to six months, but you must apply for an extension at the Department of Immigration and Emigration in Sri Lanka. 
  • If you are staying in Sri Lanka for more than 30 days, you can apply for a visa through the Sri Lankan High Commission or Embassy in your home country.

Alternative Visa Options:

  • Visa on Arrival: Citizens of some countries can obtain a visa on arrival at certain airports in Sri Lanka. However, this option is not available for all nationalities. Please visit https://www.immigration.gov.lk/ for details.
  • Visa through Sri Lankan Diplomatic Missions: If you are unable to apply for an ETA online or need a visa for more than 30 days, you can apply for a visa through the Sri Lankan High Commission or Embassy in your home country.
